Summer Garden Party – 29 June

The 29th June 2017 marked the return of the Summer Garden Party, one of the Chamber’s most successful and luxurious events. In the beautiful Chancery gardens of the British Embassy, just a few doors down from M. Macron himself, guests gathered to enjoy delicious food and even better company.

Amongst the delights offered by caterer Cirette were Mediterranean style king prawns, foie gras millefeuille and adventurous popping candy creations for desert. The delicacies were accompanied by the best of Franco-British boissons, with Champagne, Pimms and Gin taking centre stage.

At 19h30 Oriel Petry, Director of the Department for International Trade France, welcomed guests to the prestigious setting, stressing how important it is that our two nations continue to work together, and assuring everyone that although Britain is leaving the EU, it is certainly not leaving Europe. President of the Franco-British Chamber, Olivier Campenon, then took the stage, thanking partners Barclays, Eurostar, Lagardère Sports and Sport dans la ville for their continued support and the teams at the Chamber and the Embassy for ensuring the event ran as smoothly as it did.

As the clouds parted, the sun lit up the gardens and our sponsors said a few words. Kamal Jah-Jah from Barclays introduced the tailored service Barclays offers its clients, while Elise Curioni from Sport dans la ville inspired us with how they use sport to help disadvantaged youths, followed by Vincent Gaillard from EPCR who teased us with the future of European Rugby with Lagardère Sports.

The excitement continued as Catherine Le Yaouanc announced the lucky winners of the Tombola, with prizes including 5* stays with Warwick Hotels, Eurostar tickets, and exotic perfumes from Penhaligon’s.

As deserts and drinks were served, guests took advantage of the setting to network and look to the future of collaboration between our two nations.
